Gobind Behari Lal was a pioneering science journalist who helped establish scientific reporting as a respected field in American journalism. As a co-founder of the National Association of Science Writers, he promoted professional standards for science reporting at a time when the discipline was still emerging. In 1937, he became the first person of South Asian origin to receive a Pulitzer Prize for journalism.
