Alexi Grewal is an American cyclist and Olympic champion. At the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, he became the first American man to win the gold medal in the men’s road race. Born to an Indian Sikh father, Grewal achieved one of the earliest Olympic victories by an American of Indian descent. His success elevated the profile of American cycling internationally and demonstrated the growing presence of the Indian diaspora in elite U.S. athletics.
