Ashwin Vasavada is a planetary scientist whose research has advanced understanding of Mars and the evolution of planetary environments. At NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, he served as Project Scientist for the Curiosity rover mission, leading scientific operations and helping guide the exploration of Gale Crater. Under his scientific leadership, Curiosity produced major discoveries about Mars’s ancient climate, geology, and potential habitability. Vasavada’s work has played a central role in expanding knowledge of the Red Planet and informing future missions in planetary exploration.
