After a career as a cardiologist, he founded UPSIDE Foods to develop meat grown directly from animal cells, creating a new approach to protein production that reduced reliance on conventional livestock farming. Under his leadership, the company achieved a historic milestone when it received the first joint FDA and USDA clearance for cultivated chicken in the United States. Valeti’s work helped transform cultivated meat from a scientific concept into a commercially viable technology with global implications for food production.
