Kanwal Rekhi helped pioneer Indian American entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley by founding Excelan, one of the first venture-backed technology companies led by an Indian immigrant. After building the company and achieving a successful exit, he turned his attention to helping others navigate the path he had forged. As a co-founder of TiE in 1992, he created networks through which aspiring entrepreneurs could access mentorship, capital, and industry connections. His achievements helped establish both a model for immigrant founders and an ecosystem that supported future generations of technology entrepreneurs.
