Richard Verma is an American diplomat and lawyer who became Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, the highest-ranking position held by an Indian American at the U.S. Department of State. Previously U.S. Ambassador to India, he helped strengthen one of America’s most important strategic partnerships. Across government and diplomacy, Verma has played a leading role in advancing U.S. foreign policy while expanding Indian American representation at the highest levels of the State Department.
