Sunil Gulati is an American economist, sports executive, and soccer administrator. Elected president of the U.S. Soccer Federation in 2006, he became the first person of Indian descent to lead a major American sports governing body. During his 12-year tenure, he oversaw the federation’s commercial expansion and helped secure the successful bid to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His leadership transformed American soccer and broadened Indian American representation in sports governance.
